This is my first Charlotte post and I couldn’t think of a better place to start than The People’s Market of Dilworth. It opened up about a year ago and I ended up there for the first time last week.

I understand how impractical it is to travel from Lake Norman or even from the UNCC campus down to Dilworth but if you’re in Uptown for work or house hunting in the neighborhoods surrounding Charlotte, this is absolutely worth the trip.

The People’s Market is like the hub of local lovin’ in Charlotte. It has everything the working person could need; coffee, food, wifi, alcohol….

In all seriousness, this place is great. They serve coffee roasted exclusively by local roasters (Charlotte has like 15+ if you can believe it!), a huge coffee bar area and ample space for you to go and spread out. It serves all of the coffee in coffee mugs, really providing the warm and fuzzies.

Moving away from the coffee bar, you’ll find a food station serving breakfast and lunch. The breakfast features southern classics and twists on those dishes we love to mimic from our friends south of the border. The lunch serves classic deli items like chicken salad and BLTs but also offers options for our animal lovers out there (the vegans). The menu is simple, focused, and efficient for your busy afternoon.

Finally, and most importantly (next to coffee), is The Market. It offers countless local craft beers and wines and instead of me detailing them here, because they do rotate, just go check it out.

It’s located on East Blvd. right across the street from Starbucks. I can’t think of a better or bigger middle finger to The Man. So if you like Starbucks, LOOKING AT LITERALLY EVERYONE, you’ll love The People’s Market because now you can support your community and local producers. Be cool.
